# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes less than ten minutes of actual work, and most of that is just waiting for chocolate to melt.
  • The salty crunch of the chips against smooth chocolate is wildly addictive and always surprises people.
  • You can make it look impressive with almost no skill, just a steady hand and a little patience.
02 -
  • Do not let even a drop of water into the melting chocolate, or it will turn gritty and unusable.
  • Use parchment paper instead of wax paper, because wax paper can stick to the chocolate and ruin the bark when you try to peel it off.
  • Let the chocolate set in the fridge rather than at room temperature, or it will take forever and may bloom with white streaks.
03 -
  • Use a mix of dark and milk chocolate for a more complex flavor that appeals to everyone.
  • Break the bark into pieces over the baking sheet so any loose salt or chocolate shards stay contained and do not make a mess.
  • If the chocolate starts to harden before you finish spreading it, pop it back in the microwave for ten seconds to loosen it up again.
